Nina, What a moving tribute to your cousin. Sounds like you are left with fond and lasting memories of a life well spent by a woman who serves as a true role model. Thank you for sharing both what you are going through and what you, and we, can take away from her life. Be well.

Wendy, refer to my reply to Lisa. Refer to Hallowell's book, seek expert treatment if you can identify. Then if medication is indicated, be sure to include other healthy lifestyle changes, as well. Good luck!

Best advice is to read the book Delivered From Distraction by Edward Hallowell. If you can identify, make the extra effort to find an expert who can help you in assessment and treatment. Remember that medication is only one piece of the puzzle. Life style changes are also key as is healthy the reduction of stress.
Good luck!

I am SURE that I suffer from ADHD. And lately I seem to piss people off when I am really just trying to be a team player. I'm not sure what I can do at the ripe age of 55, other than to try grace, gratitude, breathing techniques, and G-d.
I will keep reading your blog to find answers. Thanks

I am a counselor also and I have had people say that I have ADHD too. My doctor doesn't seem to think I have it, but I am hyperactive so I can see how people think I have it. It will be interesting to see if things run more smoothly now that you know that you have ADHD. I sometimes still think I have it no matter what the doctor says. It looks like you have a great website here, keep up the good work!

I look forward to seeing your new experiments! Maybe short moments of focus rather than trying to hold yourself to long periods of time? I just read about Segment intending in "ask and it is given" and it seems a perfect antidote to the ADD quality of our modern lives!

What a nice, succinct post. At Children's Aid we are very aware of the importance of being part of a community and, as you put it "the human connection of meeting with a group." Thank you for your words.
